Meet the experienced and friendly doctors who make Vision Source of GVR the leading provider of vision care products and services in Denver.

Kristin S. O’Brien, OD

Dr. Kristin O’Brien grew up in Midland, Michigan where, from an early age, she had her eye set on a future in optometry. Dr. O’Brien attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Biology with a Vision Science concentration. She went on to complete her Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree at the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO). Dr. O’Brien has additional training in the areas of low vision, pediatrics, specialty contact lenses and working with patients who have a mental or physical handicap. She particularly enjoys getting to know her patients and takes pride in providing examinations in Spanish and overall exceptional eye care.

While in school Dr. O’Brien founded the Michigan Optometric Student Private Practice Association (MOSPPA) and was influential in beginning the Student Optometric Leadership Network (SOLutioN) of which she currently serves on the Executive Committee. She also spends time on the lecture circuit, speaking about private practice and the business aspects of the profession with Optometric Insights to inspire success in future generations of optometrists. Dr. O’Brien has participated in optometric missions to Guyana and Mexico to provide eye care to the underprivileged and remains an active member of her local Vision Source chapter, the Colorado Optometric Association (COA) and the American Optometric Association (AOA). She serves nationally on the Vision Council Attendees Advisory Board, Young Professionals Advisory Committee, and Allergan Jumpstart Ambassador Program. She has earned multiple honors including the the Marchon Practice Management Award and the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award. Most recently Dr. O’Brien was named the 2016 Next Generation Innovator by the International Vision Council.

Dr. O’Brien moved to Colorado in 2013 and opened Vision Source of GVR with her two business partners and the help of many mentors who have guided her along the way. In her spare time, Dr. O’Brien enjoys taking her yellow lab, Brandy, and french bulldog, Stella, hiking and exploring new eateries in Denver with her husband, Chris.

Cole Wilson, OD

Dr. Cole Wilson is a Colorado native who spent his youth playing basketball and hiking in the mountains. He attended Concordia University of Nebraska where, after three years, he was granted early acceptance into Pacific University’s College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. Dr. Wilson received his Bachelor’s degree in Vision Science in 2014, while working toward his Doctorate in optometry.

In school, he was involved in numerous clubs, one of which allowed him to travel to Nicaragua to serve the people there. During his training, Dr. Wilson worked at a variety of clinics, including Indian Health, the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and a surgical eye care center. Dr. Wilson received his Doctor of Optometry degree in May 2017, and joined our team shortly after.

Dr. Wilson is dedicated to cultivating relationships with his patients and volunteering in his community. He enjoys discussing nutrition and the eyes, managing and treating ocular disease, and helping patients overcome their dry eyes.

In his free time, Dr. Wilson enjoys exploring new areas of Colorado, finding new hiking trails and investing time into relationships with his family and friends at local coffee shops. He is an avid craft beer enthusiast and can often be found experimenting with new ingredients and ideas when brewing his own beer. He and his wife, Ashley, like to spend as much time as they can outside, relaxing, reading, and hiking.
